The technique is very easy to learn. On foot from the Chalet Savoy and with easy drives in a comfortable fourwheel drive minibus there is a whole new world of incredible mountain scenery to be discovered safely with a local mountain leader. Every evening you will return to your comfortable chalet base to enjoy a log fire, Elaine"s legendry cakes and a hot tub with one of the finest views in the Alps.

With our Chamonix snowshoeing programmes we prefer not to set out a rigid fixed itinerary but rather to adjust the daily outings around the weather conditions and needs of the individual groups. But rest assured, we will show you some amazing scenery. The Chamonix Snowshoe - Moderate programme will be at a more relaxed pace than the harder version with lots of photo stops Here is a sample one week programme.

Sunday Included transfer from airport.(1 1/4 hour drive) Briefing at dinner

Monday: From Plain Joux (1300 metres) we skirt above the Lac Vert and climb to Le Chatelet (1418 metres) for a coffee at the refuge while admiring the view across to Mont Blanc. Climbing to Ayeres des Rocs we see where the Roman road headed to Martigny and admire the Fiz Mountain, the largest limestone plateau in Europe. A higher track brings us back to our start point.

Tuesday: We drive to Burzier perched high above the Arve vvalley. Climbing to the Chalet de Mayeres we can soon see why this beautiful plateaux with; its sweeping views accross to Mont Blanc was used as a setting for the snow shots of a James Bond film called "The Worlld is not enough".

Wednesday: Leaving the chalet on foot, we arrive at the Prarion ski lift to be whisked up to 1800 metres. Skirting round to 'La Charme' we have far reaching views up the Montjoie Valley and Mont Joli. We descend to the Col de Voza and then explore the romantic Bionet Valley before climbing to the Bellevue ski lift to descend to Les Houches by cable car.

Thursday: Free day. There are many options available: downhill skiing
(lessons available), cross country skiing, a glacier walk with a UIAGM mountain guide, ice climbing, tandem paragliding, helicopter sightseeing flights over Mont Blanc, a trip on one of Europe's highest cable cars, the Aiguille du Midi, a ride on the Montenvers train to view the 'Mer de Glace', free rides on the Mont Blanc express train and local busses to Chamonix for shopping and sightseeing, Perhaps a relaxing visit to the exclusive nearby spa with indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam bath, sauna, tropical showers, fitness room and outdoor terrace.

Friday From the parking at 1280 metres on the outskirts of picturesque village of Cordon, we climb to the Tete Noire and flanked by the mighty Aravis mountains and Point Perce we climb the crest to the Cabane du Petit Patre (1915 metres) following the Tour du Pays du Mont Blanc trail.  The Mont Blanc range dominates the southern view.

Saturday: Just across the Chamonix Valley from the Mont Blanc summit, our track takes us up to the Chalets de Chailloux for an unrivalled panorama of Mont Blanc and its plunging glaciers. We detour through forest clearings for further extensive views of the mountains to the North.

Sunday: Included transfer to the airport.
